More Knowledge As An Excuse for Delaying Action

mindset productivity progress taking action

Sometimes more knowledge is needed to take action.

I mean... if you’re working on something important where if you make a mistake someone could get hurt or there could be a major negative consequence then it matters.

But I’ve found, especially for myself, that needing “more knowledge” can be an excuse to allow me to not have to act.   It’s an easy out.  If I can convince myself that I need more information, expertise, or knowledge before acting then I can delay putting myself through the pain, struggle, and discomfort of doing the work.

This also protects me from the potential pain of failing.  Hey, if I don’t do anything then I don’t risk possibly failing or looking stupid.

The truth is... you only need enough information to take the next small step.

If you have enough knowledge, skill, or resources to take the next step toward whatever you’re trying to accomplish then you have all you need to progress forward.

Do something today with what you already know.  Adapt and learn as you go. Soon enough you’ll find yourself miles closer to your goal and in a much better position than you are today.
